Description
This medicine is indicated in serious infections due to amikacin sensitve gram negative organism. The primary mechanism of action of amikacin is the same as that for all aminoglycosides. It binds to bacterial 30S ribosomal subunits and interferes with mRNA binding and tRNA acceptor sites, interfering with bacterial growth.
Indication
It is used in the treatment of serious infections caused by bacteria sensitive to amikacin.
Side Effects
• Ringing in your ears or loss of hearing • decrease in the amount of urine you produce • severe allergic reaction -you may experience a sudden itchy rash (hives), swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth or throat (which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing), and you may feel you are going to faint • skin rash • nausea and vomiting
